I have been doing Karate since 6th grade and I am currently at the Northern California Karate Do. I'm a first level brown belt hoping to promote soon.
This marked my first step into becoming a real practitioner of Seito Shito-ryu. With this I was able to take on more serious roles in leadership and I even got to start assisting in a weekend youth class.
I recently began volunteering at a community center to help teach youth classes on weekends. Being able to help teach this youth class has really helped me reflect on how far I've come, but also how much I still have to learn.
Gasshuku is an intensive training session held by a host dojo and many experts give seminars at Gasshuku. I was really apprehensive about attending Gasshuku since I'm only a first level brown belt, the lowest mandatory level eligible to attend Gasshuku, but it was really fun and tiring. All in all it was a great experience and I would love to do it again.
